Rampion Offshore Wind Farm

The new proposed renewable energy scheme will cover an area of 167 square kilometres and be sited 13-23km (8-15 miles) off the East Sussex coast near Seaford, Newhaven, Brighton and Worthing.

Up to 195 wind turbines are proposed, with generating capacities of between 3MW and 7MW, at heights of up to 180m and 210m with a total capacity of around 700 megawatts (MW) of electricity.

The turbines could generate more than 2,100 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity each year.  In a typical year, the developers Eon estimate the project could generate enough electricity for around 450,000 homes, more than two thirds of the homes in the whole of Sussex, including the city of Brighton and Hove.

Eon are running a community consultation with a series of public exhibitions in Brighton, Worthing, Newhaven, Steyning, Shoreham, Hove, Seaford, Hassocks, Peacehaven, Henfield, Lancing and Littlehampton.
