New Wind Farm Developments

Eon plans to construct the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm between 13km and 25km off the East Sussex coast near Seaford, Newhaven, Brighton and Worthing.

The energy firm said the site had the potential to supply about 430,000 homes with renewable electricity.

The wind farm is Zone 6 of nine wind farm development zones in Round 3 of the Crown Estate's programme. They own the UK seabed and their aim is to deliver a quarter of the UK's electricity needs by 2020 from offshore wind energy generation.

The zones are :
1 - Moray Firth
2 - Firth of Forth
3 - Dogger Bank
4 - Hornsea
5 - Norfolk
6 - Hastings
7 - West of Isle of Wight
8 - Bristol Channel and
9 - Irish Sea

Public information days have been held to explain the proposals to the local communities.
