Ofgem Proposals

Ofgem have proposed domestic electricity and gas tariffs be simplified, to make it easier for customers to find the cheapest deal and to increase competition between suppliers.

In November 2011 Ofgem will provide detailed proposals to reform the commercial electricity and gas market to help the business sector.

In December 2011 there will be further decisions on proposals on liquidity to break the stranglehold of the Big Six in the wholesale electricity market.

In early 2012 the findings of an independent report into making energy companies' accounts more transparent will be published.
